True or False
When I hear the words "disabled person" I envision someone beautiful, productive, and successful.
What do you envision? Many people in our society still hold negative stereotypes because they lack exposure and knowledge.
Many people with non-visible disabilities are managing chronic pain, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, MST, Long COVID and so much more. They are frustrated when they need an accommodation on the job or in the classroom and they're told, "You sure don't look disabled!"
On November 15th, ASK DR. APPLEwhite to explain this question and why she is encouraging people to change their perception from disabled to differently-abled for success in life. Learn more at www.whiteappleinstitute.org

One of my students called me and expressed concerns for her sister, a recently terminated federal worker. She exclaimed, "my sister is talking that stupid suicide stuff again and she won't call the number you gave me,
Dr. Applewhite. What can I do? "
This month's topic is inspired by our conversation.

Meet the Host,
Danita Applewhite PhD CRC, Army Veteran, Founder/Director of White Apple Institute; Host of the ASK DR. APPLEwhite Program featuring the Differently-Abled Network (DAN).
She is referred to affectionately as “Dr. Apple” by her clients and students, she is a retired professor of psychology, Independent Living & Rehabilitation Counselor, and former chair and vice chair of AZ State Independent Living (SILC) and State Rehabilitation(SRC) Councils .A life member of DAV, PVA and a member of MWAN, WACVA, VMLC-Emeritus, IAVA, Unite US and more…
Dr. Applewhite started the Differently-Abled Network (DAN) as an outreach, education, and mentorship program of the White Apple Institute (WAI), a veteran, disabled, and women-operated nonprofit 501C (3). The mission is to connect, educate, and support underserved veterans and civilians with both visible and non-visible disabilities to resources, so they can succeed in the workforce and /or higher education, and have a quality life.
DAN mentors and members welcome all community members, local educators, employers, service providers, counselors, social workers, veteran officers, sponsors and related professionals across the United States to join as guests. All colors, genders, labels accepted.
Trained DAN mentors and members restore hope by helping in critical situations: for example, in preparation for a long-awaited job interview or crucial exam what happens when the tire goes flat, babysitter fails, equipment breaks, etc., and there’s no support system? Your donation or sponsorship pays for bus passes, minor car repairs, exam fees, equipment repairs, and more. To specifically address the disproportionate needs of women veterans recognized at DAN meetings we launched the Place Your B.E.T.S. On Women VETS project, sponsored by Reintegr8. Learn more at www.whiteappleinstitute.orgor call/text 888-56APPLE (888-562-7753). email info@whiteappleinstitute.org
Ask about sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.
